I learned so much and enjoyed my interactions with the great people at The Frist Center for Autism and Innovation | Vanderbilt Universit and the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center, It was humbling and amazing to get to have a "fireside chat" with Keivan Stassun. And to get to meet with Dave Thompson, Dave Caudel, Amy Weitlauf, Jessica Schonhut-Stasik Ph.D. and the whole team and learn about the great work they are doing.
Keivan and I spoke about:
➡️ my experience as a late-diagnosed autistic person;
➡️ why it might be important to recognize that research-based best practices in student success, like those I employed as a university administrator, are based on probabilities in a population, but, teachers maybe should focus on each student and their complexity as people;
➡️why I disclose so openly about my struggles with depression and being autistic;
➡️ some fun stories that are part of my book project, Pathologically Genuine.
You can watch the stream below. The sound on the opening intro by my dog Brea disappears. The conversation with Keivan Stassun starts about 4 minutes in. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_px4Yu6Rfs
Unfortunately there here was a hiccup on Zoom picking up the sound on the introduction- which is a podcast of my dog, Brea introducing me. It is worth hearing the sound, because AI did such a great job with her voice and intonations. It is worth watching. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxrnWQ587t4
